This is footage I shot on the night of the 10th of July, when Swisscom's Zurich shop opened it's doors at midnight.
Only 4 people were let in at a time to get their iPhone 3G purchased and activated. We only stayed until 00:30 but I am sure that everyone who was queueing was there for most of the night.
Up until around 11pm there were around 100, those who were at the front of the queue had already been waiting more than 8 hours. Between 11pm and midnight there were over 400 people queueing.
More than 100 Swisscom shops opened at 6:30am on the morning of the 11th of July. Orange, the other Swiss carrier selling the iPhone had no special opening hours.
Both Swisscom and Orange have reported that the iPhone 3G is now out of stock. New stock should be available in 3 to 4 weeks.
